Music [in the] Museum | JU[MB]LE-Project 2022: We, the Grandchildren

A concert of the Youth Ensemble for New Music Bavaria / Verein Tonkünstler München e.V.

  • in the framework of the event series Music [in the] Museum in the Center for Art - classical concerts and other musical events within the exhibitions
  • Free entrance

Two ensemble works by Gloria Coates, the American composer and grande dame of contemporary music who has lived in Munich for a long time, frame the program of this year's project by JU[MB]LE, the Youth Ensemble for New Music Bavaria. Under the baton of its artistic director Johannes X. Schachtner, the ensemble takes a musical look at the grandparents' generation: among others, the spectacular and at the same time trend-setting "Workers Union" by the Dutch composer Louis Andriessen, who died last year, will be heard, as well as the "Octandre" by new music great-grandson Edgar Varèse.

JU[MB]LE - Youth Ensemble for New Music Bavaria was founded in Munich in 2015 and brings young, particularly talented musicians from Bavaria between the ages of 13 and 23 into contact with top-class teachers, composers and soloists during rehearsal phases and develops concert programs together with them, so far with the singer Salome Kammer or the composer Detlev Glanert, among others. JU[MB]LE's repertoire includes works by renowned composers of the 20th and 21st centuries, compositions by up-and-coming artists, as well as compositions regularly commissioned by JU[MB]LE since its founding for its unusual (complete) ensembles, so far by Jan Müller-Wieland, Stefan Schulzki and Birke Bertelsmeier. JU[MB]LE presents itself in Sinfonietta line-up, but also in smaller chamber music formations, the artistic direction is in the hands of Johannes X. Schachtner.

The project 2022 takes place in cooperation with the Cultural Department of the City of Munich, the Bavarian State Ministry of Science and Art and the Schafhof - Europan Center for Art Upper Bavarian.

JU[MB]LE is under the sponsorship of the Tonkünstler München e.V. association.
Sponsors include the Bavarian Music Council, the Bavarian Broadcasting Corporation, the Bavarian State Ministry of Science and Art, Munich University of Music and Performing Arts, the Cultural Department of the City of Munich, the Munich Regional Committee "Jugend musiziert", Tonkünstlerverband Bayern e.V., the Association of Bavarian School Musicians e.V. and the Association of Bavarian Singing and Music Schools e.V.
