The goal of the European artist exchange of the District County of Upper Bavaria is to consolidate the cultural relations between countries of the European community by a partnership and to enrich the regional as well as the Upper Bavarian cultural scene.
The art exchange with the MeMeraki Artist Residency in Limassol began in 2023, with two artists each from Cyprus and Upper Bavaria living and working for two months in the respective partner country.
Benefits of the scholarship for Upper Bavarian artists:
Reservation:
Subject to change or error. If an art exchange with one of the partner institutions does not take place despite a successful call for applications, the art scholarship will be cancelled without substitution; the district of Upper Bavaria will not pay any compensation or damages.
MeMeraki Artist Residency is located in the heart of the old town of Limassol, the second largest city in Cyprus, situated directly on the Mediterranean Sea. For the residency, a listed townhouse with a new studio building and an idyllic courtyard are available for joint activities of the 5-10 artists from Cyprus and abroad.
"MeMeraki Artist Residency is a newly founded not-for-profit organisation, situated in the heart of the old historic centre of Limassol. Our main Residency Programme is aimed at professional artists, both local and international. We provide for two 2-3 month residency periods within a running year and our schedule consists of various events, such as the Artist Talks which are held at CUT, our Open Studios and Annual Group Show.
Among our aims at MeMeraki is to address and hopefully minimise the gap between the public and the local artistic community. We want to work towards bringing all sorts of different parameters of the arts in communication between them and to initiate a spirit of collaboration and exchange within the artistic community. By reaching out to the international artistic community and by hosting artists from abroad to work and experience art in Cyprus, we aspire to establish what will become a dialogue of exchange, influence and stimulation, both for the local artists as well as the international."
