Marie Jaksch, born 1987 in Munich, Germany
lives and works in Munich.
Marie Jaksch's performative and installative works deal with political and social issues. They range from room-spanning installations with performative sound elements and video sculptures to immersive live moments. The performative strategies are usually set in the context of an overall installative composition. The artist thus moves on the border between pictorial spaces and details, between sound and language, moving images and live observations. From 2017 to 2021, she studied digital and time-based media at the Academy of Fine Arts Munich in the class of Professor Julian Rosefeldt and Philip Gröning. After her studies at the Berlin University of the Arts (diploma in costume design with distinction), she distinguished herself as a stage and costume designer for numerous art film and theater productions, including Kampnagel Hamburg, arte, Volkstheater, Schauburg, schwere Reiter, Pathos Munich.

The artist-in-residence program takes place in the framework of the European Art Fellowship of the District Council of Upper Bavaria.
During the stay of the guest artists in Freising presentations and open studio days provide the possibility to meet with and know more about the artists. There is always the option to arrange individual visits and meetings as well.
