Franz Koppelstätter

Starting from the field of architecture, Franz Koppelstätter deals with a wide range of space-specific themes. Vacancy and brownfield use are explored and sounded out with artistic tools. The potential uses of public spaces are explored actionistically. When designing spaces and buildings, he likes to start with found materials and site-specific typologies, which he then modifies and reinterprets.

In recent years, curatorial practice has increasingly come to the fore in his work. Here, too, the content always revolves around spatially relevant topics such as mobility, settlement and urban development, architectural history or the eco-social transformation of the built environment.

Artist-in-residence

The artist-in-residence program takes place in the framework of the European Art Fellowship of the District Council of Upper Bavaria.

During the stay of the guest artists in Freising presentations and open studio days provide the possibility to meet with and know more about the artists. There is always the option to arrange individual visits and meetings as well.
